West Pokot County's Education Sector Praised for The Infrastructure Development support to schools

The County Executive Committee Member of Education for West Pokot County, Mrs. Rebecca Kide  has commended Governor Simon Kachapin's administration for its efforts in improving the county's education sector.

This comes after the department delivered infrastructure development funds cheques to schools in Lomut ward including St. Mary's Cheptulel Girls secondary school,Pitpagh Primary school and Maros primary school with each school receiving a cheque worth Ksh. 500,000.

This infrastructure development funds will enhance the quality of education in the selected schools through identification of infrastructural needs based on the school's need. These funds compliment the recently disbursed county bursaries to every student from West Pokot county.

CEC Kide acknowledged the importance of students as key stakeholders in education and urged them to be good ambassadors of the education and advocate for the importance of acquiring education as it's the key to success.

In addition, she acknowledged the commitment of both the national and county governments in supporting education institutions. She encouraged the management to use available resources prudently, thanking Governor Kachapin for investing more in education sector  and reminding staff to use resources effectively.

Speaking during the event, Mr. Julius Lokituman, who is the chief officer of Education and Early Childhood Development Education, echoed CEC Kide's comment on the utilization of the funds well and account for them as status by the guiding policy.

Meanwhile, Andrew Kasiltich, the West Pokot County Bursary Chairman, emphasized the need for the school management to continue to work with the county government to further improve the education sector in the county. Kasiltich called on both the county and national governments to increase their funding to schools to propell the development of the institutions.

Lomut ward administrator, Mr.Moses Petan encouraged the school management in collaboration with the parents to fully support the county government's education innitiatives to enlightenment the residents of Lomut.
