West Pokot County Football and Cultural Teams Shine at KICOSCA 2024
West Pokot County has once again proven its dominance on the Kenya Inter-County Sports and Cultural Association (KICOSCA) stage, with the men’s football team defending their championship title in spectacular fashion. The team claimed a decisive 2-0 victory over Nairobi County in the final match held at the Mumias Sports Complex in Kakamega County. This outstanding win marks their second consecutive KICOSCA title, reaffirming their status as leaders in the tournament.
In addition to the football team's triumph, West Pokot’s cultural team delivered an equally impressive performance, securing four trophies in various categories. The combined success underscores the county's commitment to nurturing talent in both sports and culture.
Governor Simon Kachapin praised the teams for their exceptional achievements and highlighted the significance of the KICOSCA games in fostering unity, celebrating talent, and promoting inter-county collaboration.
"I extend my warm congratulations to our champions for making West Pokot proud once again. I also commend all participating counties for their efforts and thank Kakamega County for hosting this vibrant event," said Governor Kachapin.
The 11th edition of the Kenya Inter-County Sports and Cultural Association (KICOSCA) games brought together teams from across Kenya and neighboring Uganda, celebrating sportsmanship and cultural diversity. The event was graced by dignitaries, including Governors Fernandes Barasa (Kakamega) and Jonathan Bii (Uasin Gishu).
West Pokot County emerged as one of the standout performers, taking home an impressive five trophies—one for football and four for cultural excellence. These victories reflect the county's dedication to fostering holistic development through sports and cultural initiatives.
