West Pokot County Concludes Workshop to Finalize 2024-2034 Physical and Land Use Development Plan
A three-day workshop officially concluded at Horizon Hotel, bringing together various departments'technical officials from the County Government of West Pokot to review and validate the 2024-2034 County Physical and Land Use Development Plan.
Supported by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the workshop aimed to refine the plan to better address the county’s specific needs while aligning with national development policies.
The event saw the participation of county officials, including the County Executive Committee Members Esther Chelimo, Lucky Litole and Chief Officer Mathew Rionokol, where the discussions centered on how the plan will guide rural development, infrastructure, environmental conservation, and economic growth.
CEC Esther Chelimo, in her remarks, urged the technical team to ensure the plan accurately reflects the priorities of West Pokot County residents. She also expressed her gratitude to FAO for its continued support and called for more partnerships to strengthen the plan’s implementation.
Chief Officer Mathew Rionokol emphasized the critical role of interdepartmental collaboration in addressing land issues to facilitate infrastructure development and stimulate economic growth across the county.
In addition, CEC Lucky Litole praised the teamwork displayed by all involved departments, encouraging further cooperation to ensure the plan's success. She reiterated the importance of a unified approach in achieving the county's development goals.
As the workshop concluded today, the 2024-2034 County Physical and Land Use Development Plan is expected to serve as a blueprint for rural and urban development, securing funding, and driving sustainable growth in West Pokot County over the next decade.
