West Pokot Champions Child Welfare at UNICEF Forum

West Pokot County joined a forum on the state of children in West Pokot and Samburu counties, held at the Boma Inn, Eldoret.
Organized by UNICEF, the event brought together leaders, stakeholders, and child welfare advocates to discuss the challenges faced by children in these marginalized regions and to develop actionable solutions for a brighter future.

The forum shed light on pressing issues affecting children, including limited access to quality education, malnutrition, inadequate healthcare, and harmful practices such as early marriages and female genital mutilation (FGM). These challenges not only hinder the well-being of children but also impede the overall development of our communities.
Speaking at the forum, the Deputy Governor Robert Komolle highlighted the importance of collaboration between governments, communities, and partners to address these challenges.

“For our children to thrive, we must unite as stakeholders and create opportunities that ensure their well-being and secure their future. I commend UNICEF for spearheading this transformative initiative,” he said.

The County Government of West Pokot remains steadfast in its commitment to improving the lives of children through innovative programs and partnerships that focus on education, healthcare, and social protection.
