West Pokot branch of the Kenya Society for Agricultural Professionals (KESAP) launched
The West
Pokot branch of the Kenya Society for Agricultural Professionals (KESAP) was
launched in Kapenguria. The event
supported by ACF was officially inaugurated by the County Executive Committee
Member for Agriculture and Livestock, Hon. Wilson Longronyang.
The meeting aimed to acquaint agricultural professionals with the society's objectives, structure, membership criteria, activities, and benefits, which include advancing agricultural science and technology, promoting sustainable farming practices, providing professional development and networking opportunities, and advocating for agricultural policy and education and above all The Agricultural Registration and Licensing Bill 2024.
CEC Longuronyang commended the organizers for their efforts in uniting agricultural professionals in the county and educating them on various key agricultural issues, empowering them in their roles.
Peter Wamalwa, the interim chair of the West Pokot branch, discussed the benefits offered by the society, including networking opportunities through conferences, workshops, and online forums; professional development; access to research; career services; advocacy and representation in policy-making; and discounts on events, publications, and partner services.
The event was also attended by KESAP Chairman Paul Mbuni, Secretary General Daniel Gitahi, and Lucas Odhimbo from Action Against Hunger (ACF).
