The County Government of West Pokot, in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) through the Digital Land Governance Programme which is funded by the European Union concluded a three-day public participation exercise on Chepareria Municipality Sustainable Solid Waste Management Policy. The event, held in Chepareria Ward, brought together stakeholders to contribute to the development of a comprehensive waste management framework.
Led by Municipal Manager Silas Plimo, the team included Deputy Manager Dorina Chepkopus and Municipal Environment Officer Emily Liman where the exercise sought to address pressing waste management challenges while ensuring inclusivity and sustainability in the proposed policy. Stakeholders were encouraged to embrace waste segregation practices, particularly separating biodegradable from non-biodegradable materials. The policy also proposed establishing designated waste collection points and implementing regular disposal schedules to improve efficiency.
