Transforming West Pokot: Governor Kachapin Approves Key Policy Frameworks
H.E. Governor Simon Kachapin chaired a Cabinet meeting that approved two transformative policies. These frameworks aim to address critical challenges and promote sustainable growth across the county.
1. West Pokot County Community Service Bill, 2024
This progressive Bill will establish the Community Service Program upon enactment. The program is designed to:
Provide meaningful employment opportunities for vulnerable members of society.
Replace the outdated casual employment system with a structured approach.
Offer skill-building training to enhance employability and promote dignity.
This initiative seeks to empower communities and ensure sustainable livelihoods.
2. West Pokot County Water Policy, 2024
The newly approved Water Policy is a comprehensive framework for:
Effective management and conservation of water resources.
Equitable distribution of water across all regions of the county.
Establishing governance structures to safeguard water availability for present and future generations.
Both policies will now be forwarded to West Pokot County Assembly for further deliberation and eventual enactment into law.
