Transforming Agriculture: Hass Avocado and Mango Seedling Planting Initiative in Mnagei Ward
In support of Governor Simon Kachapin’s vision to enhance food security and promote sustainable agriculture, the County Department of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries, led by CEC Wilfred Longronyang, launched a fruit tree planting initiative in Cheptuya and Lokurnoi, Mnagei Ward.
The initiative aims to plant over 108 Hass avocado seedlings and 107 grafted mango seedlings on various farms across the area. While demonstrating proper planting techniques during the exercise, CEC Longronyang encouraged farmers to embrace the opportunity and scale up their efforts by planting more fruit trees.
“These crops have immense potential to improve household incomes and uplift livelihoods in the county,” he noted, emphasizing the economic and nutritional benefits of Hass avocados and grafted mangoes.
The County Government of West Pokot is committed to empowering farmers with sustainable agricultural practices that contribute to food security, economic growth, and a better future for all residents.
