PS Ephantus Kimotho Inspects Progress of Muruny (Siyoi) Dam and Kapenguria Water Supply Project

The Principal Secretary for the Ministry of Water, Sanitation, and Irrigation, Mr. Ephantus Kimotho, was received by County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Water, Sanitation, and Irrigation, Mr. William Lopewot, during an inspection of the ongoing Muruny (Siyoi) Dam and Kapenguria Water Supply Project in West Pokot County.

Accompanied by Chief Officer Leonard Kamsait, national officials, the Assistant County Commissioner (ACC), and Deputy County Commissioner (DCC), the PS assessed the progress of the Ksh. 9 billion project, which is vital to the region’s development agenda.

Expected to be completed by next year, the project has sparked anticipation within the local community, with plans underway for its official inauguration by His Excellency the President. Both national and county officials expressed satisfaction with the progress during the inspection visit, praising the collaborative efforts behind the initiative.
Chief Officer Kamsait highlighted the unity within the community and underscored the significant benefits the project will bring to West Pokot County. Upon completion, the Muruny (Siyoi) Dam will revolutionize the water supply system in Kapenguria and nearby areas, addressing long-standing water shortages and improving livelihoods.
