The County Government of West Pokot in collaboration with the Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi) commissioned several crucial healthcare projects in Sigor Constituency.
These projects are a significant step in the county's ongoing effort to combat neglected diseases such as Kala-azar, leishmaniasis, and mycetoma, which have long affected our community, particularly in North and Central Pokot.
The commissioned projects include; a 32-bed capacity general ward (male and female) at Sigor Sub-County Hospital, supported by DNDi and a paediatric ward and laboratory at the same time hospital, fully funded and equipped by the county government of West Pokot.
Additionally, the county government has completed and fully equipped Sigor Sub-County Hospital theatre, making it the third fully functional theatre in the county since independence.
To further enhance the hospital's operation, H.E Governor Simon Kachapin who commissioned the projects, alongside his deputy H.E Robert Komolle assured the residents of his commitment to ensure there is provision of clean and reliable water by the end of this financial year as which is essential for maintaining hygiene, supporting patient care and ensuring the proper functioning of medical equipment.
"These new facilities will significantly boost our county's healthcare sector, aiding in the eradication of neglected diseases by 2030 and alleviating long-standing congestion issues affecting our community," noted Governor Kachapin.
In Pokot North, the county government of West Pokot under the administration of Governor Simon Kachapin is also making strides where recently the governor assessed ongoing projects in Kacheliba Sub-County Hospital which include and oxygen plant, a male ward, an ablution block, and a paediatric ward, all supported by the county government.
