KIPPRA Team Engages West Pokot County on Food and Nutrition Policy

Today, representatives from the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA), under the National Information Platform for Food and Nutrition (NIPFN) program, visited West Pokot County for a critical engagement aimed at enhancing food and nutrition strategies.

The team held a courtesy meeting with the County Executive Committee Member for Public Service Management, ICT, and Devolved Units, Martin Lotee.
During the meeting, KIPPRA administered various survey tools to technical staff from county departments to gather insights on food and nutrition security. Key activities included:

✅ Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices (KAP) Survey: Targeting mothers and Community Health Promoters (CHPs) to assess the availability and effectiveness of nutrition services.

✅ Policy Review: Evaluating the 2011 Food and Nutrition Security Policy (FNSP) to align it with current community needs.

✅ Data Governance in Education: Focusing on public participation and effective budgeting to improve food and nutrition outcomes within the education sector.

CEC Lotee underscored the importance of food and nutrition as fundamental pillars for the county’s development. He commended KIPPRA for its dedication to conducting surveys that address the county’s unique nutritional challenges and needs.

"Understanding the community’s nutritional landscape is key to crafting effective solutions that promote health and food security. We appreciate the efforts of the KIPPRA team in supporting this cause," said Hon. Lotee.

Through collaborations like these, West Pokot County remains committed to creating a healthier and more food-secure future for its residents.
