KenInvest and Governor Kachapin Discuss Investment Opportunities in West Pokot

A team from KenInvest Authority led by Board Member Florence Mukami Wangui paid a courtesy call on Governor Simon Kachapin on assess and discuss investment opportunities within the county.

Governor Kachapin highlighted the numerous untapped investment prospects in West Pokot, emphasizing that arid and semi-arid lands (ASAL) represent the next frontier for wealth creation in Kenya. He detailed ongoing efforts to operationalize the Nasukuta Export Abattoir, supported by initiatives such as pasture and animal fattening programs, and the development of feed lots to ensure the project's success.

Ms. Mukami acknowledged the significant investment potential West Pokot, having visited Uasin-Gishu, Bungoma, and Trans-Nzoia counties. She stressed the importance of encouraging private investors and packaging investment opportunities in the county to make them attractive and bankable.

She also noted that KenInvest is committed to supporting the county’s investment policies and creating an investor’s road map, including linking the county’s investment website with KenInvest's platform.

“We are dedicated to actualizing these goals and will work towards developing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for continued collaboration with this county,” noted Ms. Mukami.

CEC Parklea noted that the team has already visited various investment projects and opportunities across West Pokot, reinforcing the commitment to foster economic growth in the region.

The KenInvest team is also planning to profile projects in West Pokot and organize an investment conference to change perceptions about the county.
