HANDING OVER MARKETS TO NATIONAL GOVERNMENT FOR ECONOMIC STIMULUS PACKAGE DEVELOPMENT
West Pokot County led by Governor Simon Kachapin, has handed over Sigor and Ortum markets to the National Government for construction under the Economic Stimulus Package (ESP) Market designs.
The revised market designs will accommodate more traders and offer a wider pool of facilities including cold rooms, ICT Hub, creche and food court.
West Pokot County welcomes the revised designs that will ensure to boost market business across the Sub-counties that have been earmarked to benefit from the construction of the ESP markets.
The delegation led by Mr. Boniface Mule, Deputy Director of the Affordable Housing Programme, Eldoret, will conduct market site visits as well as to inspect potential sites for Affordable Housing Project within the county.
Governor Kachapin expressed his administration's commitment to working closely with the national government to uplift the socio-economic status of West Pokot County. He reiterated his administration's dedication to fostering partnerships that promote sustainable development and improve the quality of life for West Pokot residents.
The Sigor and Ortum markets, with a combined project cost of Ksh 200 million, represent significant investments in the county's infrastructure and economic development.
The governor was flanked by Deputy Governor Robert Komolle, Weiwei Ward MCA David Moiben, CEC Claire Parklea (Trade), Esther Chelimo (Lands), Chief Officers Daniel Lopale (Trade), Reuben Lotumale (Roads) among other officials.
