Governors Unite to Tackle Insecurity in Kerio Valley: Focus on Socio-Sustainable Measures

In a move to combat longstanding insecurity plaguing the Kerio Valley region, Governor Simon Kachapin among other governors from Kerio Valley region held a meeting with Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport Kipchumba Murkomen to deliberate on viable strategies to curb rampant cattle rustling and banditry.

The discussions centred on identifying socio-sustainable measures that could effectively address the prevalent security challenges.

Among the key priorities deliberated upon were various proposals for road infrastructure development in a move to bolster road networks in the region and potentially thwart the occurrences of cattle rustling and banditry, thus fostering a safer environment for residents and livestock alike.

Governor Kachapin emphasised the need for collaborative efforts across all the affected counties, recognising the interconnections of security concerns in the region.

The meeting brought together governors Benjamin Cheboi (Baringo), Wisley Rotich (Elgeyo Marakwet), Jeremiah Lomorukai (Turkana), and Jonathan Lelelit (Samburu).
