Governor Simon Kachapin Responds to Senate Committee on County Funds Management
Governor
Simon Kachapin has responded to an invitation from the County Public Investment
and Special Funds Committee of the Senate by appearing before the committee. He
addressed inquiries regarding the auditor general’s reports and the management
of public investments in West Pokot.
According to the auditor general’s reports, funds allocated for the financial years 2019/2020, 2020/2021, and 2021/2022, specifically for County bursary funds and cooperative development funds, were reportedly misappropriated.
Acknowledging an improvement in funds management under Governor Kachapin's leadership, the County Public Investment and Special Funds Committee noted the positive strides made.
Governor Kachapin reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that the residents of West Pokot County receive optimal value for every public investment. He was accompanied by key officials, including CEC Rebecca Kidee (Education), CEC Joshua Rutto (Finance), CO Julius Likituman (Education), CO Chebet Mungo (Finance), CO Daniel Lopale (Trade), County Solicitor Philip Ambole, and other senior county officials.
