Governor Simon Kachapin participates in the Kenya Red Cross Society Power of Humanity walk.
Governor Simon Kachapin joined West Pokot residents in the Power of Humanity walk organized by Kenya Red Cross Society.
Joined by official from County Government of West Pokot and Kenya Red Cross Society, West Pokot branch, they marched from Bendera through Makutano town to Makutano stadium where the governor and organizers addressed the people.
With this year's theme being 'building a disaster resilient community', the governor emphasized on his administration's commitment in supporting Kenya Red Cross Society and other stakeholders in building a resilient community.
Since Community resilience entails the ongoing and developing capacity of the community to account for its vulnerabilities and develop capabilities that aid that community, the governor whose sentiments were echoed by the guests in attendance, urged all key players to unite and build a community that can prevent, withstand, and mitigate the stress of a disaster, recover in a way that restores the community to a self-sufficiency state and use the knowledge from a past response to strengthen the community's ability to withstand the next incident.
