Governor Simon Kachapin Fulfills Promise to ECDE Teachers

Governor Simon Kachapin has today presided over the issuing of recruitment letters to 1,012 teachers, confirming them to permanent and pensionable terms. Additionally, 481 teachers have been absorbed under contract terms.
Since 2014, ECDE teachers have been working without proper recruitment structures. Governor Kachapin acknowledged their dedication and the crucial role they play in shaping the future, emphasizing that they deserve proper enumeration.
"This is a promise I made in my manifesto—to confirm our teachers without discrimination," Governor Kachapin stated. "As a former teacher, I fully understand your needs, which is why we allocated funds for this promotion."
Currently, the pupil-to-teacher ratio stands at 1:45, serving over 74,000 learners across 1,185 Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) centers.
Governor Kachapin also highlighted ongoing efforts to train teachers in digital learning to meet the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) requirements, with 520 teachers already trained and an additional 137 set to be trained over the long holiday. Furthermore, 600 gadgets will be distributed to benefit around 16,000 learners across the county.
Further, 16 out of 25 sub-county and Ward coordinators have been confirmed to permanent and pensionable terms, while 9 will be on contract.
Deputy Governor Robert Komolle applauded Governor Kachapin for his exemplary leadership in laying a strong foundation for early childhood education.
County Assembly Majority Leader Martin Lomongiro, along with other MCAs commended the current administration for fulfilling its promises and ensuring a fair process free of discrimination.
Present at the event were representatives from teacher organizations, who also expressed their satisfaction with the administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of teachers.
