Governor Kachapin Meets NCIC Delegation to Discuss Preparations for International Day of Peace
This morning, H.E. Governor Simon Kachapin hosted a delegation from the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC), led by Commissioner Hon. Dorcas L. Kedogo, for a discussion on the ongoing preparations for the upcoming International Day of Peace.
The event, scheduled for September 21st, 2024, will be a historic first for West Pokot County, offering a unique opportunity to redefine the county’s image, which has often been inaccurately portrayed as insecure.
The event will also highlight the county’s remarkable strides in peace-building and development.NCIC is adopting a multi-sectoral approach to peace-building, with a particular focus on engaging the youth and educators. This includes integrating peace education into schools through specialized capacity-building programs for teachers and the formation of Amani Peace Clubs for students.
These initiatives aim to promote peace and conflict resolution at the grassroots level, ensuring a peaceful future for West Pokot and its communities.
Governor Kachapin expressed his appreciation to NCIC for their steadfast commitment to advancing peace and cohesion, not only in West Pokot but across the entire country. He reaffirmed his dedication to working closely with NCIC to further strengthen peace initiatives and ensure lasting stability in the county.
