Governor Kachapin Leads Annual Kenya Red Cross Humanity Power Walk in West Pokot

Governor Simon Kachapin led the Kenya Red Cross West Pokot Chapter's Annual Humanity Power Walk, aimed at raising awareness and garnering support for ongoing humanitarian efforts in the region.

In his address, Governor Kachapin lauded the Kenya Red Cross for its pivotal role in emergency response, disaster relief, and the provision of essential services like healthcare and water in underserved areas.

“The spirit of humanity unites us today. We must remain steadfast in supporting those in need, especially as we confront the challenges posed by climate change and economic difficulties,” Governor Kachapin said.

He stressed the importance of collective responsibility in tackling crises such as drought, floods, and food insecurity, which continue to affect vulnerable communities across the country. The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to collaborating with the Kenya Red Cross to address these pressing issues in West Pokot.

The Kenya Red Cross West Pokot Chapter has been instrumental in coordinating emergency responses in the region, working in close partnership with the county government and other stakeholders.

Oscar Okumu, Head of Region for North Rift at the Kenya Red Cross, emphasized that the annual walk serves to raise funds and mobilize resources for ongoing humanitarian projects, particularly in remote areas most affected by crises.

The event concluded at Kapenguria Recreational Park and drew participation from several key leaders, including Speaker Fredrick Kaptui, MCAs Richard Mastaluk and Francis Loboo, CECs Joshua Ruto, Rebecca Kide, and Claire Parklea, alongside Chairman of the Red Cross West Pokot Chapter Benson Ririmboi and Coordinator Scholastica Chelagat.
