Governor Kachapin Joins Other Governors in Discussing the President’s Education Reforms
H.E Governor Simon Kachapin today joined Council of Governors Committee on Legal, Constitutional Affairs and Intergovernmental Relations and Education for a consultative meeting to discuss the implications of the recommendations of the Presidential Working Party on Education Reforms.
The Council of Governors values education's role in development but has concerns about recommendations that impact devolution. Despite county efforts in education, the COG finds the recommendations unacceptable as they infringe upon devolution.
The COG disagrees with the proposed unified school system and other suggestions, emphasising the need for consultations that honour county perspectives.
The COG withdraws from endorsing any legislative action based on these recommendations and commits to managing education functions as per the constitution. They also emphasise exclusive discussions between the two government levels in any devolved sector forums.
