GOVERNOR KACHAPIN GRACES KICOSCA COMMAND HANDING OVER CEREMONY

H.E. Governor Simon Kachapin has graced Kenya Inter County Sports and Cultural Association (KICOSCA) chain handing over ceremony to incoming Patron Governor Prof. Anyang Nyong’o at Mama Grace Anyango Social Centre, Kisumu.

In his keynote address, Governor Kachapin said he will spearhead infrastructural development efforts in the county to improve sporting facilities and nurture talent.

He emphasized that KICOSCA will allow counties to enhance and strengthen inter county relations and share ideas that are beneficial to all.

Governor Kachapin, who also serves as Council of Governors (CoG) chairman for Sports, Youth, Gender and Culture Committee, further said every county has the capacity to participate and improve sports. He encouraged governors to facilitate their staff to attend future KICOSCA competitions.

New Patron Governor Prof. Anyang Nyong’o reiterated that the games provide County staff with an opportunity to interact and compete, aside from building cohesion, teamwork, talent development, and benchmarking on best devolution practices and Cultural diversities.

The handing over of command paves way for Kisumu County to prepare to host the 9th Edition of Kenya Inter County Sports and Cultural Association (Kicosca) Games to be held from 14th- 21st January 2023. 

West Pokot County has in the past excelled in sporting competitions. During the KICOSCA 2021 tournament, West Pokot County clinched 1st position in pool table and 2nd in cultural and folk dance while in 2020; the county was crowned champions in folk dance and 1st runners-up in men football and pool table. The governor is keen on ensuring the county continues to excel at sports.
