GOVERNOR KACHAPIN COMMISSIONS DIGITAL COMMUNITY FACILITY AT AKIRIAMET.

Governor Kachapin graced the commissioning of Digital Community facility at Akiriamet in Masol ward. The facility, which comprises of a network tower, an internet cafe, power station for the community and a social hall, was put up by American Tower Corporation (ATC) Kenya through Universal Service Fund to enhance digital learning and internet connectivity in the region.

The Governor applauded the team from ATC and Communication Authority of Kenya for their efforts towards a more connected West Pokot. Subsequently, Governor Kachapin urged the community to maximize the use of the facility and leverage on the free internet to access different online opportunities.

While delivering the speech of Director General - CAK, Musa Etiko, who is the regional Manager, stated that the Authority has come up with community network license to foster network connectivity in underserved areas. He urged the county government to collaborate with them and come up with a long term sustainable plan for the project. He advised the community to own the facility and protect it from vandalization.

So far, ATC Kenya has constructed more than 3,300 towers across Kenya and 29 in West Pokot with plans to expand into other areas.

Among those preset were area MCA Wilson Chekeruk, ATC Kenya Head of Human Resource Oscar Mutua, County staff led by CECM for PSM and ICT Martin Lotee.
