Governor Kachapin Assesses Site for Mega Fresh Produce Market

Following an official meeting between the County government of West Pokot led by County Executive Committee member for Trade, Ms. Claire Parklea and USAID/KUZA recently regarding the Marich Fresh produce Market, H.E Governor Simon Kachapin conducted a site assessment and visit ahead of its ground breaking and construction.
This initiative aims to transform Marich into a commercial and agricultural hub, strategically positioned near Wei-Wei and along the Kitale-Lodwar Highway.
The funding model, with the county government contributing 50% and donors matching the other 50%, will realize completion of the first phase of the project.
During his public address, the Governor urged community members to actively participate in the construction and operationalization of the market, as it will bring forth a sense of ownership and sustainability.
The Governor was accompanied by Deputy Governor Robert Komolle, Hon. Jane Mengich, Hon. David Moiben, Hon. Wilson Chekeruk ,CEC for Trade and Investments Clare Parklea, Chief Officers Musa and Lopale among other county government Staff.
