Governor Kachapin Appears Before Senate Committe on National Cohesion and Equal Opportunity

Governor Simon Kachapin appeared before the Senate Committee on National Cohesion, Equal Opportunity, and Regional Integration. This follows a motion filed by the Senate Majority and Minority Leaders regarding "The Current State of the Nation," which was debated in the Senate on July 24, 2024.
The Senate resolved that the standing committee should seek detailed information from all counties to identify any gaps. The focus areas for West Pokot County include:

1. The demographic composition of employees in terms of gender, persons with disabilities, age, and ethnicity.
2. The demographic breakdown of the County Executive Committee Members and Chief Officers by gender, disability status, age, and ethnicity.
3. Details on any recruitment conducted by the county in the last three years.
4. Compliance status with Section 53(6) of the PPDA, CAP 412.
5. Affirmative action measures are being implemented to promote women, youth, and persons with disabilities in recruitment and leadership.
6. Audits or assessments undertaken in the last three years to ensure inclusivity in the recruitment process.

Governor Kachapin reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to complying with the County Government Act, ensuring equal employment and tender opportunities for the youth, women, and persons living with disabilities.

He was accompanied by the Chairman and Secretary of the County Public Service Board (CPSB), his Chief of Staff, and the County Attorney.
