Governor Kachapin Advocates for Stronger Devolution at CoG Meeting in Naivasha

On the second day of the Council of Governors (CoG) meeting in Naivasha, Governor Simon Kachapin participated in discussions aimed at strengthening devolution, increasing county funding, and enhancing intergovernmental collaboration.
Key resolutions from the meeting included advocating for the reinstatement of KES 400.1 billion as the equitable share, ensuring the full transfer of funds for devolved functions, and expediting intergovernmental sector forums and legislative reviews.
Additionally, county governments resolved to stop contributing to Tier II under the NSSF Act, Cap 258, as they are exempted under pension schemes funded by the Consolidated Fund.

These decisions mark a significant step toward enhancing financial autonomy and improving service delivery in West Pokot County.
