Final Local Physical and Land Use Plans Presented to County Assembly for Approval Process
The County Department of Lands, Housing, Physical Planning and Urban Development led by the County Executive Committee Member Ms. Esther Chelimo today submitted the Final Local Physical and Land Use Development Plans for West Pokot County Settlements under the Kenya Informal Settlements Improvement Project II to the West Pokot County Assembly.
While receiving the documents, the acting West Pokot County Assembly Clerk Leonard Ngiro, said the plans and report will be tabled before the assembly for deliberations.
The county assembly’s approval will unlock the next stages of KISIP2 which will see the settlements’ beneficiaries getting lease titles and qualify the settlements for the infrastructural component of KISIP2.
Later the team held a meeting with the West Pokot County Assembly committee members for Lands, Housing, Physical Planning and Urban Development led by the Chairperson Hon. Todosia Ruto where they were briefed on Second Kenya Informal Settlements Improvement Project and how it will benefit the informal settlements residents and the county at large.
Also in the meeting was Hon Victor Siywat (Endugh), Hon. Martin Komongiro (Sook), Hon. Richard Mastaluk (Kapenguria), Hon. Wilson Chekeruk (Masol), Hon. Gladys Korii, Hon. Joshua Chumel (Kiwawa), Hon. Mary Joshua, Chief officer Lands Mathew Rionokol, Donato Longal (Kapenguria Municipal Manager), Lydia Tabot (Deputy Municipal Manager), Eritom Joseph (County Coordinator-KISIP2) Hamilton Bett (county physical planner) among other officials.
