County Leadership Launches and Inspects Key Development Projects in Siyoi Ward

Simon Kachapin toured Siyoi Ward to inspect and inaugurate a series of transformative projects aimed at enhancing livelihoods, education, infrastructure, and economic opportunities for the community.

At Siyoi Comprehensive School, the Governor inspected a newly constructed multi-purpose hall and a borehole, both designed to serve the school and its surrounding community. The hall will provide a modern space for educational and social activities, while the borehole will address critical water needs. During the visit, Governor Kachapin underscored the urgent need for six additional classrooms to accommodate the growing student population following the introduction of junior secondary school. He stated that his administration is committed to providing infrastructural support to the school in collaboration with partners.
The Governor also assessed infrastructure improvements at St. Mary’s Siyoi Secondary School, including a borehole constructed by the county government to address persistent water challenges. This initiative will ensure access to safe drinking water, improving health outcomes and reducing the prevalence of waterborne diseases.

He further evaluated the progress of the Siyoi Milk Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society, which is transitioning from milk cooling to pasteurization and the production of other dairy products. Once operational, the factory, with a capacity of 1,500 liters per day, is expected to significantly increase the value of milk products, offering dairy farmers better returns and boosting the local economy.
Additionally, the Governor inspected the newly drilled Siyoi water borehole, which is set to provide a reliable supply of clean water to hundreds of residents in Siyoi Centre, as well as the Siyoi Milk plant.

While addressing residents, Governor Kachapin highlighted the transformative impact of these projects.

“Our focus is on delivering impactful, community-driven development. These projects underscore our commitment to improving education, agriculture, water access, and infrastructure for the people of West Pokot,” he stated.

The Governor also inspected the ongoing grading of the Siyoi-Bondeni Road, which aims to improve transportation and enhance the road network in the area.
