COUNTY CONCLUDES TWO-DAY CONSULTATIVE FORUMS ON MTEF
The county government of West Pokot concluded two-day consultative
forums on Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) in all Sub counties which
will help in the process of formulating budget estimates for the financial year
2023/2024-2025/2026.
CEC Finance and Planning Paul Woyakapel speaking at ELCK Church, Kabichbich in Lelan Ward said that the public participation forums will help in the process of formulating budget proposals for the two financial years, and ultimately guide development of county projects.
He said the process also seeks to promote transparency and accountability of public resources and ensure value for taxpayers’ money.
He further said that the County Integrated Development Plan (2023-2027), Annual Development Plan FY 2023/ 2024 and County Fiscal Strategy Paper 2023 will also guide prioritization and identification of projects and programs to be implemented.
Health and Sanitation CEC Claire Parklea leading the forum in Sebit Catholic Church, Batei Ward, said that the county’s commitment was to ensure realisation of the true spirit of devolution, particularly by giving the people power to identify local projects and invest in projects that will transform their lives.
“We not only want to ask for the residents’ views, but to also truly engage them throughout the process,” said the Health and Sanitation CEC.
Public consultative forums conducted in all the wards were led by County Secretary and CECs, MCAs and county’s technical team from Finance and Planning Department.
