Collaborative Tree-Planting Effort Aims to Green West Pokot and Promote Environmental Health

The County Department of Water, Natural Resources, Environment, and Climate Change has launched a major environmental initiative. In collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the Pharmacy and Poisons Board, led by Dr. Peter Mbugwa and Regional North Rift head Dr. Kibet Chebew, along with national government officials and the local community, the county executive committee member for Water, Natural Resources, Environment, and Climate Change, Hon. Wilson Petot, inaugurated a significant tree-planting campaign in Lelan ward today.

This initiative aims to enhance the county's environmental health and productivity. The team planted 100 avocado trees and 5,000 other tree species in Kaptabuk, and an additional 6,000 trees at Kamonge Primary School, reinforcing the importance of environmental stewardship within educational institutions. These efforts not only seek to improve the county's natural resources but also highlight the collaborative efforts between various governmental and local bodies to achieve a greener and more productive West Pokot.
