West Pokot Child Protection Policy Briefing

A team from the County department of tourism, culture, gender and social development as well as the county legal team met Governor Simon Kachapin for a briefing on the Child Protection Policy.

The governor emphasized that his government is keen on ensuring that all vulnerable children in the county are protected and thus, will put in place sustainable measures to protect them.

“The new child protection policy that we have formulated, is timely, as the number of street children in the county is significantly increasing and several of them are victims of FGM and child marriages.” Stated the governor.

The policy, which takes cognisance of the high number of vulnerable children in our county, proposes various interventions and strategies that will help prevent and respond to abuse, neglect and exploitation of children. It also provides a platform for collaboration between the county government, national government and our partners.
