Advancing Good Governance: Governor Kachapin, NDI Team Push for Transparency Reforms

Governor Simon Kachapin hosted a delegation from the National Democratic Institute (NDI) to discuss strategies for enhancing transparency and accountability in county governance. The discussions centered on how open governance, particularly in budget allocation and expenditure, can help strengthen political and civic institutions within West Pokot County.

Governor Kachapin underscored the value of adopting transparent practices, acknowledging that increased public scrutiny from such initiatives demands thorough documentation and raises expectations. "Openness not only strengthens governance but also highlights areas for improvement," he remarked.

The NDI team expressed their commitment to promoting transparency by enhancing the capacity of County Assembly members and staff in financial management.

Governor Kachapin also shared his administration’s intention to join the Open Government Partnership, a move aimed at aligning West Pokot with global governance best practices. He reaffirmed his dedication to improving public participation and transparency as key pillars of his administration’s agenda.
