West Pokot County is hosting a 3 day European Union instrument for devolution advice support program workshop at Kilimo House in Kapenguria.

Union instrument for devolution advice support is a program between the government of Kenya and the European Union. It supports the implementation of the devolution process including through enhancing capacity to facilitate inclusive and sustained Local Economic Development, participatory planning and service delivery.

The workshop brings together counties under the program dealing with livestock. They include West Pokot County (completion of Nasukuta Abattoir), Baringo County (completion of Maoi Abattoir and Mogotio Tannery), Kisumu County (Dairy Enterprise Development Programme), Samburu County (Maralal Nomotio Abattoir) and Wajir County with improvement of camel milk and meat value chain.

The EU IDEAS workshop that runs from 25th-26th November aims at reviewing the Local Economic Development (LED) Grant projects implementation of the first year; the progress made towards the projects and the challenges encountered while implementing them.
The workshop was officially opened by Joel Ngasia-CEC Agriculture and Livestock) who welcomed the EU team led by John Callagher-EU IDEAS Advisor , Samuel Anyanga (CO business, cooperative and marketing-Kisumu County), Isaack Ndirangu(CO Livestcok-Baringo County), Lemako Tyson(Ag CO Agriculture- Samburu County and Noor Mohamed(CCO-Wajir County) and other project coordinators from the counties involved.

Mr. Isaiah Pendow -Chief Officer Livestock urged the members to utilize the workshop’s discussions and view it as a tool to fully achieve the intended projects’ outcome.
