Drought hit areas receive emergency livestock feeds
Governor Prof. John Lonyangapuo flagged off 4, 000 bags of emergency livestock feeds (range cubes) as a response to areas hardly hit by drought in West Pokot County.
The programme, implemented by the County Government in partnership with Food Agriculture Organization (FAO), will benefit 1,200 households who were competitively selected and verified from Pokot Central and Pokot North sub counties.
Additionally, 64, 590 goats, 14, 000 sheep and 6, 500 cattle have been vaccinated under the same programme. All these will go a long way in cushioning livestock farmers against the severe effects of drought witnessed.
