County Treasury Engages Stakeholders in Budget Planning

The County Government of West Pokot, through the Department of Finance and Economic Planning, under the leadership of CECM Joshua Ruto, convened a Budget Sector Hearing Forum at Kishaunet Showground to deliberate on the County Budget Proposal for the FY 2025/2026 – FY 2027/2028 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) period. 
This session, a key milestone in the county’s budgeting process, reaffirmed the County Treasury’s vital role in crafting a budget that aligns with the Public Finance Management Act of 2012. Stakeholder engagement remained a fundamental aspect of the forum, ensuring that resource allocation and county priorities reflect the needs of the community.

The hearing covered all key sectors, including Agriculture and livestock, Rural and Urban Development, and Environmental Protection. Discussions also addressed essential areas such as Water and Natural Resources, Social Protection, Culture and Recreation, and Health. 
Furthermore, Education, General Economic and Commercial Affairs, and the Energy, Infrastructure, and ICT sectors were extensively reviewed, underscoring their critical role in the county’s economic growth and social development.
Significant attention was also given to the Public Administration and Inter-Governmental Relations sector, with a focus on enhancing service delivery and strengthening collaboration with national government agencies highlighting the importance of a balanced, inclusive, and fiscally responsible budget that not only drives the county’s development agenda but also upholds principles of transparency and accountability.
