World Vision Kenya National Director, Mr. François Batalingaya and a delegation from the Canadian Parliament yesterday, paid the County a courtesy call.
World Vision has for a long time been supporting the county in various ways to achieve its mission by working with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice.
Through the organization’s accountability approach of ‘How are we doing? How do we know? How transparent are we in our reporting?' The National Director, Mr. Batalingaya together with the team from Canadian parliament were in the county to assess their projects in West Pokot County and their impact on the community.
Hosting them in the Governor’s Boardroom, the Governor Prof. Lonyangapuo commended the organization’s work in the county with children’s education, health, sanitation and wellbeing in vulnerable areas. “I am very grateful to World Vision for the support they gave in the development of the Orwa Peace School and other schools. This initiative will bring back peace and good relations between us and our neighbours like Turkana, Baringo, Elgeyo Marakwet and Transnzoia and also Uganda.” Said the Governor.
Governor Prof. Lonyangapuo requested the organization to continue supporting the county to achieve its development and involve various donors in the projects.
Also present in the meeting were Dr. Parklea (County Secretary), Hon. Catherine Mukenyang (West Pokot county speaker), Mr. Kapelo (Chief of Staff) and other county officials.
