Kapenguria Boys, The School of Champions is a government boys’ boarding school located in Mwotot Sub location, Kapenguria Location, Kapenguria Division, Kapenguria Constituency in the County.
The school made history in Kenya especially in West Pokot County in the 2017 KCSE results. It was ranked position 12 nationally and position one in the county with a means score of 9.1577 up from 7.6596. Twenty-six candidates got A-, 73 got B+ (plus), 71 candidates scored B, 57 B-, 12 candidates got C+ (plus) while two got C plain.


Today the students accompanied by their acting Principal Mr. James Omayo celebrated with songs, dance and ululations of all kind at the County Headquarter. The joy that the boys had was undisputed.
Addressing the students, the Governor Prof. Lonyangapuo praised their long term hard work in gradually attaining their deserved position. “I am really impressed by your performance. Attaining position 12 in the whole country is putting our not so well known county in the big picture. We led in the whole North Rift in Mathematics and indeed we are the SCHOOL. You lead as other follow you. Rejoice for this achievement is well owned”


The governor further applauded the school’s administration through the acting Principal Mr. Omayo who has worked tirelessly with the students to ensure they attain good and useful grades that will benefit them. “I congratulate the BOG, PTA and the teachers for the good role they played in the school. On the same I wish to tell Mr. Omayo to stay in the school and ask TSC to confirm him as the principal of the school because he has done so much and the 2017 KCSE results proves it. We shall organise a big celebration in your school through the Department of Education and Technical Training to acknowledge the good performance.” He said.

On the issue of TSC transfers, the Governor asked all the principals who have been transferred to stay put pending consultation. “You cannot just take a principal from one school to the other without consultations! All stakeholders should be involved to ensure peaceful transition from one school to the next.”
Also present was the County Secretary, CECs, Chief of Staff, COs and former students of Kapenguria Boys High School.
