Every culture in the world has its own form of music that is enjoyed by all ages on every continent. Although each culture is different, music unifies all races and has been used throughout history for different occasions and for enjoyment purposes. To learn why music is important to world cultures and continues to be created over the decades, there are a few important facts to understand.


West Pokot County through Sengekwo Cultural Dancers Group participated in the Kenya Music and Cultural Festival held in the County Government of Uasin Gishu on 31ST October 2018 and embraced the county with the best performance.
In the different classes of music, they managed to clinch the first positions three times, two positions three times and third positions two times. They brought their trophies in celebrations to the department of Culture, Tourism and Sports where they were received by the Solomon Merireng (CO sports), Erick Changorok (Dir-sports), Leonard Kilekwang (Dir-youth), William Petangole(principal tourism officer) and other officers. They were appreciated and requested to do a lot of practice as they prepare to participate in the national level in Meru County as from 23rd November 2018.


The group chair Mrs. Consolata  Limanguria appreciated the county Government for the support they gave them to make it to the national level. She explained the challenges they faced and requested for the county government to help them so that the challenges of such kind should not be experienced again. She promised that the group is looking forward to improving the image of the county.
