According to a report by WHO-2015, less than 50% of people in rural Africa lack access to improved drinking water and sanitation. This is a true situation of our people’s livelihood.
Scarcity of water in our county remains a major challenge to many, especially those living in rural areas. Our department is keen on ensuring sustainable development in a clean and secure environment.
We have already drafted policies aimed at ensuring proper management of water, as well as protection of water catchment areas. The use of ICT will be important in ensuring resource tracking, mapping and monitoring.
We shall embark on drilling of boreholes and construction of dams to ensure that every resident in this county no longer faces water shortage.
However, our long term goal is to continue working with development partners and private sectors to complement our efforts towards clean and sufficient water in the county.
