The year 2018 has been a great run for Miss Sarah Pkyach. It is the same year she has won a treble; Miss JKUAT 2018, Miss West Pokot 2018 and to crown it all, Miss Tourism 2018. This has been a huge feat for her and West Pokot County.
First Lady Dr. Mary Lonyangapuo in collaboration with the department of tourism staged a grand homecoming for the beauty who put West Pokot on the map of Kenya for all the right reasons. Her win has been a change agent; changing the perceptions of Kenyans on West Pokot. The celebrations were led by West Pokot Governor Prof. John Lonyangapuo and Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa.
During the celebrations which were held at Makutano stadium, Miss Pkyach said she will use her new platform to market and promote the tourism industry in West Pokot and Kenya.
“Our county is beautiful. Kenya and the world at large need to experience this beauty. We are home to the biggest black elephant population in the world found in North Pokot at Nasolot Game Reserve,” said Miss Pkyach.
Sarah beat 40 other contestants to win the coveted crown and will represent the country in the Miss Tourism International which will take place in Malaysia in December. She also signed a 1.2 million shillings contract and will represent and market Kenya in several international trips, the recent one being part of Kenya Airways’ (KQ) inaugural flight to New York.
