The CEC ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Pastoral Economy, Mr Lipale Godffrey his two chief officers, Mr Samson Nyang’aluk and Jonathan Karita yesterday met Prof Kimurto Paul from Egerton University who is also the Director Seeds of Gold, Dr Moses Siyambi Director ICRISAT and Mr Yatich Krop, CEC ministry of Agriculture Elgeyo Marakwet County at the ministry’s office in Kilimo house to discuss on a partnership of dry land crop economy.

‘Our county being an Agriculture base, introducing large scale farming in dry land crops is a welcome idea. Growing of sorghum, finger millet, groundnuts and green grams in commercial scale is not only going to be beneficial to our citizens but also to the county’s economy’, said the CEC Mr. Llipale.
The ministry will mobilize, identify and register the farmers; Egerton University will train the farmers and build the capacity of agriculture officers on the same. ICRISAT, being the donor of the whole process will step in and provide seeds and together with Egerton University, they will provide ready market for the products.
The targeted areas will be, Chesegon, Lumut, Masol, Sigor and Turkwel.
