Great and positive developments are realised once leadership starting from its smallest unit to the largest come together to work transparently and with accountability being the key string that holds them together.
Over the weekend various leaders led by Governor Prof. John Krop Lonyangapuo, David Pkosing-MP Pokot South, Peter Lochakapong- MP Sigor and CECs and MCAs from Baringo and West Pokot County assemblies came together to distribute over 106 dairy cows and Sahiwal bulls.
56 dairy cows were tendered to 17 schools, Kabichbich Health Centre and 38 farmers of Lelan Ward at Chepkono Primary School while 50 sahiwal bulls were given to residents of Tiaty constituency in Kolowa; each of the 7 wards got 7 bulls.
The event also saw the leaders engage in fund drives to promote education. Lopusumoru Primary School in Lelan Ward received Ksh. 2 million for the improvement of school infrastructure while at Propoi Girls Secondary School in Chepareria Ward funds were raised towards completion of an administration Block. A laboratory funded by the national government and a classroom were also opened at the school.
The Governor thanked Lelan farmers for their efforts in rearing quality dairy cows that have been distributed to other areas in the county and urged people of West Pokot to embrace and support the coming together of leaders and avoid divisive politics.
While in Tiaty, the governor urged residents of Tiaty to live peacefully with their neighbours and advised the elected leaders to preach peace for development.
