In line with County Government’s promise under tourism & culture development section of promoting tourism and making it one of the key incomes generating avenues for West-Pokot County.
West Pokot County under the leadership of Prof. John Krop Lonyangapuo has embarked on building a major cultural centre (like Bomas of Kenya) to showcase the unique Pokot culture and offer accommodation to her tourists and guests.
Recently the governor laid a foundation stone for The Mtelo Cottage Hotel; the hotel facility together with the county government owned Mtelo Cultural Centre will include a cultural centre, conference halls, VIP and ordinary cottages which includes the iconic Mt. Mtelo Hall in Kapenguria.
Prof. Lonyangapuo emphasized that the cottages hotel will bring revenue and supplement other tourism sites in the county. “This facility will offer a vast variety of the rich Pokot culture where there will be live cultural exhibits for the visitors.” He said.
The governors also urged contractors entrusted with the development of projects in the county to keep their end of the bargain by completed the projects in time to show the value of the county’s resources.
