The Governor Prof John Lonyangapuo on Friday at the County Headquarters in exercise of the powers conferred by the Constitution assented to TheWest Pokot County Appropriation Bill 2018; a Bill of the County Assembly of West Pokot to authorise the issue of certain sums of money out of the County Revenue Fund and their application towards the services of the year ending 30th June, 2019.

He further assented to West Pokot County Public Participation and Civic Education Bill 2018 which purposes to promote democracy and participation of the people in accordance with Article 10 of the Constitution, transparency and accountability in decision making, enhance public awareness and understanding of governance processes, community ownership of public decisionsand public participation and collaboration in governance processes.
Additionally, the governor granted The Municipality of Kapenguria a Charter to be The Municipality of Kapenguria in exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 (1) of the Urban Areas Act (No. 13 of 2011) as complemented by section 72 of the interpretations and General Provisions Act (Chapter 2) and all other enabling provisions of the law.
“West Pokot County is the secondafter Meruto grant her County Headquarters a Municipality Charter. This means we are in the right track of Devolution, VISION 2030and achieving my government’s 3Es Agenda. All these should benefit and impact the people of West Pokot” said Prof. Lonyangapuo.
