Governor Prof. John Lonyangapuo led hundreds of residents in marking one year in office, a celebration that was held at Laikong girls’ secondary school.
Prof. Lonyangapuo said that his administration has transformed the county to the better despite the many hurdles experienced over the past one year.
“We have made great strides towards the implementation of our manifesto. Our main agenda is to improve livelihoods and ensure holistic development of our county. We seek to improve our livestock breeds and agriculture as this is the backbone of our county’s economy.” He said.

Prof. Lonyangapuo cited the many achievements his administration has been able to achieve, saying that his administration remains focused on delivering the promises made to the people of West Pokot.
His statement comes at a time when the county’s administration has conducted massive vaccination of livestock and also led the distribution of dairy cows and Sahiwals, in an effort to improve breeds and increase its market competitiveness.
Education sector has also seen major milestones over the past one year. Over Khs. 400 million has been allocated to the bursary kitty, over 100 million has also been disbursed in an effort that will see ECDs get major facelift in terms of infrastructure. The governor also led the launch of ECD feeding program, as outlined in his manifesto.

In conserving the environment, more than 350,000 seedlings have been planted to preserve water catchment areas and forests.
The county boss reiterated that his government will remain focused on delivery on its promise to the people.
