Provision of services to the residents living in urban towns within Kapenguria municipality will soon receive better services following the swearing in of its board members.
Governor Prof. John Lonyangapuo presided over the swearing in of The Kapenguria Municipal Council Board members and Richard Kigen Koech –Chief Officer Finance, which was held at the county headquarters grounds.
The governor said that his administration will support the members of Kapenguria municipality board towards the execution of its mandate. He urged the board members to live up to their oath’s specifics.

“A lot of work needs to be done to improve our town. We need to take a 360 approach to ensure that our town meets the standards of a big town like ours. Let us start with beautifying our town,” he said.
He however warned members of the public that there would be consequences for those who had grabbed public land and built structures on restricted areas.
“Some have grabbed public land and are now purporting to own. I have seen structures come up in areas that they should not. This board will put everything in order soon.” Said the county boss.
The Governor further said that a notice will be given out to those who illegally occupy places and land, upon which the county government will act as per the law.
Joel Arumonyang - CEC Lands urged the new members to work together for the good of the public. He added that his department will work in close collaboration with the Kapenguria municipality members to plan and develop towns within the municipality.
This comes barely three months after a team of consultants from the national government were in the county to ascertain whether it had met all the requirements that would see the county get World Bank grant aimed at improving towns in municipalities. Having board members for the Kapenguria municipality was a major requirement.

His sentiments were echoed by CEC Augustine Monges- Trade, Industry and Cooperatives who also emphasized on the importance of town planning, saying that it would largely help improve the economy.
The new municipal board members are;
