Peace is precious as it is important in the growth, development and wellbeing of a people. Today, Governor Prof John Lonyangapuo was at Takaywa near the border of West Pokot and Turkana Counties, for a peace meeting. This follows incessant attacks, which has led to loss of lives and livestock.
He condoled with the family of 15-year-old boy, Ngiro Lomerikada, who was shot dead last week by armed raiders.
The county boss urged residents to embrace peace as we engage leaders from the neighbouring county and security apparatus, in bid to secure a long term solution.
Security personnel present were led by Sigor Deputy County Commander Ithae Githinji, who represented West Pokot County Commissioner Apollo Okello. He was accompanied by Senator Samuel Poghisio and several MCAs.
Earlier, Governor and his team passed by an outreach programme at Takaywa sponsored by Kenya Red Cross.
They are offering antenatal clinic services and other immunisations to children and expectant mothers. The programme targets those who may have missed these vital services during nurses' strike.
The medical personnel also conducted rapid malaria tests and attended to several patients with various illnesses.
He thanked Kenya Red Cross together with Turkwel Health Centre for the noble cause.
