The County Government of West Pokot is committed to empowering its farmers through access to knowledge as it is a powerful tool in propelling the economy.


Governor prof. Lonyangapuo graced the first West Pokot Farmers Expo and Trade Fair at Makutano Stadium in an effort to empower farmers to increase their income through improved farming.
The event themed ‘Promoting Innovation And Technology In Agriculture and Trade’ brought over 1000 farmers and 35 exhibitors together to interact and learn from each other the best way farming can be done was sponsored by the County Government of West Pokot and Remington Africa.


Remington Africa is a corporates events company that works with corporations with interests in the agribusiness sector to provide capacity building trainings for farmers’ groups in various counties of Kenya.
From the financial institutions to service providers, agricultural machinery manufacturers to manufacturers of Agrochemicals, Veterinary Products, Fertilizers, Farm Implements all the exhibitions were up to the test to educate farmers in all works of agriculture and livestock.


The governor emphasized that farmers deserve only the best and to ensure such is achieved, the department of agriculture and livestock is working hard to ensure farmers from the county receive quality knowledge that will boost their production. “We as farmers should embrace the ever changing innovation and technology in the fields of agriculture and trade so as to realize the intended yields. We should make use of the knowledge that we’ve gathered from here to improve our crop and livestock production for the betterment of our economy.” Said the Governor.


Various leaders also attended the occasion including Joel Arumonyang (CEC PSM and ICT). Ruth Kisabit (CEC Education), Edna Krop(CO Agriculture), Isaiah Pendow(CO Pastoral Economy,Solomon Merireng (CO investment and Cooperatives)
