ECDE is the foundation that prepares every child to advance into the future. West Pokot County Government is working hard to ensure every child’s foundation is well secured by investing in ECDE through infrastructure and learning materials.
Recently governor Prof. Lonyangapuo opened ECDE classes funded by a group of faithful from Ireland under the Development Cooperation Ireland at Chepnyal Catholic Church in Sook Ward. The classes were then blessed by Bishop Rt Rev. Maurice Anthony Crowley of Catholic Diocese of Kitale.
Speaking during the occasion, governor Lonyangapuo applauded the support and sponsorship initiatives the Roman Catholic church has made to many educational institutions that compliment government efforts in increasing the literacy in the county.
“My government will post an ECDE teacher to the school to help the children enrolled in it. This move will further foster increment in enrolment and retention of children in area” said the governor. Roman catholic church has for a long time been helping the national and county governments respectively in advocating and enhancing the education sector.
They were accompanied by CECs Luka Chepelion(Finance), Christine Apakoreng (Education), Ruth Kisabit(Tourism and Culture, COs Musa Anupa( Administration) and Thomas Lotonyang( Public Works).
