Ahead of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) summit in Nairobi, the County Government hosted a delegation from Development for International Development (DFID), Human Rights International and Population Services Kenya.
On hand to receive the delegation were finance CEC Augustine Monges and Chief Officer Medical Service Jonathan Karita.


The delegation was led by John Court-Head of DFID in Kenya and Theresa Castillo of Health right International.

They were in the county to interact with women, adolescents,local leaders and tour health facilities, and implementing partner around the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights. A visit to Chepareria Sub-County Hospital provided a platform to interact with young women and youths who highlighted the challenges around family planning and ways to address them.


According to DFID West Pokot County is among the 19 counties that will benefit from £36M UKaid Delivering Sustainable and Equitable Increases in Family Planning (DESIP) program in Kenya. This program targets counties with lowest percentage of married women who are currently using at least one method of family planning.
