The department of Water led by chief officer milkah Psiwa- Water has awarded its best performing employees with certificates and foodstuff shopping worth Kshs. 5, 000.
The occasion brought together employees from the department of water, with an aim to recognize staff whose performances deserved special recognition.
Speaking during the special breakfast event held at the department’s headquarters, the county secretary Dr. Mike Parklea who graced the occasion termed it as a “great initiative” which will highly motivate employees to put more effort in their work.
He added that there is nothing better in any working environment than motivated employees.
“What you’ve done here today Madam Milkah should be emulated by other departments. I’m sure that these employees are highly motivated and this department will soon meet its targets before the next financial year.” Said the county secretary.
During the ceremony, 13 certificates of recognition were presented to individual staff to honour their achievements and work ethics.
Esther Chepkiach and Morris Simiyu received the “Most Disciplined Employee” certificates, while Dorcas Chepyatich was got the “Best Service to Community”.
The “Most Committed and Hardworking Employee” went to Seminar Ptiso while 9 other employees received other different certificates.
The chief officer Milka Psiwa expressed her gratitude towards the employees of her department saying that they have worked tirelessly over the past financial year in order to achieve the department’s targets.
She stressed on the need for employees to be appreciated, saying that it plays a key role in motivating everyone. She added that her department will continue to recognize its employees in the next financial year.
“Your hard work and success will inspire more county staff to become top achievers in the coming months. I have seen some of the most dedicated staff over the few months that I have been here. That is why we all need to appreciate and value each other’s efforts.” Said Chief Officer Psiwa.
She however said that the department wouldn’t have met its targets without support from the executive.
Chief Officer Psiwa highlighted on the need for all departments to align their projects and activities with the county’s manifesto and the Big ‘Four’ Agenda.
CECM Ruth Kisabit- PSM & ICT applauded the department for coming up with such an initiative which also doubled up as a session to re-evaluate progress. She urged all employees to maintain high standards of professionalism and embrace team work.
“Professionalism calls for us all to be courteous and hospitable. That is the image we need to portray at all times.”
Earlier on, Abraham Powon, Director- Water and Seminar Ptiso, Engineer- Water highlighted on how the department’s projects and activities aligns the county’s and national government’s development agenda.
